Effective Focal Area Dimension Optimization of Shear Horizontal Point-Focusing EMAT Using Orthogonal Test Method

To overcome the shortcomings of low energy conversion efficiency electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs), point-focusing shear horizontal (PFSH) wave EMAT is used to focus into a specific area. Many factors will affect capability focusing transducer, and in addition considering signal intensity, detection accuracy also required be investigated. Specifically, simplify test process, we use orthogonal method study effect different influence parameters on intensity focal area dimensions. Seven are selected, three results determined test. Range analysis shows that for amplitude $M$ , top impact coil width $w$ turns $n$ length lF (equal bandwidth factor $\alpha $ ). Moreover, magnet number $m$ frequency $f_{c}$ dominate effective $l_{\text {fd}}$ aperture angle $\theta determines $w_{\text . enable higher smaller dimensions, it necessary consider various PFSH-EMAT performance.
